Jules and his bistro-hopping adventure

In taste, look and spirit, Jules is a true bobo. A mixture of different genres has given him an open spirit, and a thirst for knowledge; he wants to know everything, to learn everything, and taste everything! Faced with this thirst for life, Jules often wanders around the old bistrots “à l’ancienne”, where you happily share a table with strangers or have friendly chats with the owners at the end of service. Amongst these kinds of places, Le Pantruche is without doubt one of the most beautiful that Jules could find.

This restaurant hidden away between Pigalle and rue des Martyrs is the perfect little Parisian bistrot, showcasing its original features: a grand bar, spotty mirrors, wooden tables and chairs… Le Pantruche, which was slang for Paris in 1835, is friendly and lively, as much in its atmosphere as in its food, and the head chef Franck Baranger whips up a short but varied menu of traditional French cuisine.

So, what’s on the menu? How about confit of roast veal in verbena with minted peas, Pollock with crispy smoked bacon and beer and onion mousse, or even soft-boiled eggs, Spanish omelette and siphon chorizo? What, didn’t we tell you? Le Pantruche is a gourmet bistro after all! Come on you amateurs!

Good to know: The menu changes regularly depending on the chef’s inspiration and what he can get in the local market, so don’t be disappointed if they aren’t serving the delicious dish you had last time that you so loved, it will be back soon!

Open Monday to Friday from midday to 2.30pm, and from 7pm to 10.30pm.

Jules has rock’n’roll under his skin!

Jules is a music lover, this is a known fact! So whenever he has a moment during his lunch break, he rushes to the Hard Rock Café.

Jules just loves admiring the restaurant’s Hall of Fame, where renowned artists such as Eric Clapton or Pete Townsend hung up their guitars. His mind quickly wanders and he imagines himself on stage with Elvis or B.B King…

And when Jules eventually gets back down to Earth, the restaurant’s American inspired menu is all he needs to fill him with joy: tex-mex, enchilada, fajitas, steak with fries and spicy sauce or hamburgers… Being a rock star sure gives you an appetite! After that, Jules has only one thing in mind; to get back home, put on his old cowboy boots and rock out to a live concert of AC-DC! Rock’n’roll baby!

Open Sundays through to Thursdays from 8:30 am to 1am and Fridays to Saturdays from 8:30am to 2am.

Jules has Paris at his feet at the Galeries’ Summer Terrace

Tempted to take a break, head in the clouds? Jules has an address just up his sleeve: the Summer Terrace at the Galeries Lafayette!

Located on the 8th and top floor of the department store, this fleeting spot is exceptional: panoramic views over the Parisian rooftops and monuments, the city of lights is at your feet! The décor is by Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manky, currently big shots of interior architecture, and portrays a sense of tranquillity and zen.

As for the food, the menu has been assigned to Fumiko Kono, former chef of the Arpège, and Pierre Hermé, king of macarons. The result: fresh and original creations as only to be expected of these two chefs. The flavours subtly blend the traditional French cuisine with a Japanese twist.

The plus : Fumiko Kono has concocted a mixture of sweet and salty delights to go in a basket or a bento! Whichever takes your fancy!

A timeless moment but Jules recommends you reserve because the Terrace only holds 60 place settings which are grabbed within minutes!

On the 8th floor of the main store. Open Mondays to Saturdays from 12pm until 6pm.

Jules is a Mama’s boy!

Tired of cheap food, Jules often likes to find the good food that his grandmother used to feed him when he was young. So for this, there is only one address: les Fils à Maman, a small and friendly restaurant near the Grands Boulevards.

Alban, Julien, Nicolas and Nicolas are serious foodies who decided to mix their knowledge and skills to create THEIR restaurant, with the idea to satisfy the nostalgia for the good food of yesteryear. The food is simple but delicious. Steak, veal stew, french fries … The desserts remind us of the culinary experiences we had during our childhood “Little Lu shortbread, warm Nutella and banana”, “Kinder Surprise Egg on a nest of apples”, but rest assured, the result is very different from the desert kids prepare with their dining sets.

In addition to this good-natured spirit, Jules especially likes the restaurant’s decor. A small terrace situated just off the street in a very lively area, a beautiful room decorated in a retro style, accentuated with vintage items (old dolls, toys for children) for a very bohemian look. Finally, one Tuesday a month, the mother of these four terrible children is in the kitchen, with the key to these secret wonderful recipes.
