Jules escapes to Galerie Vivienne

Is there anything more romantic than a traditional Parisian arcade? Little known by the general public, Parisian arcades like the Galerie Vivienne are discreet, chic and luxurious. It is here that Jules feels calm, detached from the bedlam of the Grands Boulevards and the Parisian lifestyle. In the BistroVivienne , Jules takes time to experience simplicity, savoring his glass of wine and sampling the home cooked food. As a big fan of old Parisian Bistros, Jules admires the plush sofas, the traditional wooden tables and chairs, and the elegant antique mirrors.

In this arcade, designed by the architect Delannoy, Jules likes to dream of a time when Vidocq lived at the top of the grand staircase, with the noblemen coming to admire the semi-circular windows and the magnificent rotunda lavished with decorations of nymphs and goddesses. It is a delicate and poetic place that should be discovered when strolling around lazily.

Open Monday to Saturday, noon – 11pm

Jules has goose bumps !

Initially a simple romantic sight-seeing visit, the Grévin Museum quickly became a nightmare for our great Jules! Behind his strong and elegant 5.9 feet, Jules hides a truly sensitive side. Being the teddy bear that he is, he agreed to take his Juliette to discover the oddest museum in Paris. There are over 300 waxwork celebrities here, from Elton John to Madonna, from Jacques Chirac to Albert Einstein, passing Naomi Campbell on the way. What could possibly be in such a museum that could make Jules shiver with fear? This is however what happened, and Juliette had a fine opportunity to mock her lover (gently, we promise). But for what reason… did the statues come to life? Was Jules scared of the Palais des Mirages? Or, worse, did Jules himself turn into a wax figure? There is only one solution… Go into this temple of the bizarre to find out!

Open from Monday to Friday, 10am-6.30pm (last entry at 5.30pm), and Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays fro, 10am – 7pm (Last entry at 6pm)

Jules has rock’n’roll under his skin!

Jules is a music lover, this is a known fact! So whenever he has a moment during his lunch break, he rushes to the Hard Rock Café.

Jules just loves admiring the restaurant’s Hall of Fame, where renowned artists such as Eric Clapton or Pete Townsend hung up their guitars. His mind quickly wanders and he imagines himself on stage with Elvis or B.B King…

And when Jules eventually gets back down to Earth, the restaurant’s American inspired menu is all he needs to fill him with joy: tex-mex, enchilada, fajitas, steak with fries and spicy sauce or hamburgers… Being a rock star sure gives you an appetite! After that, Jules has only one thing in mind; to get back home, put on his old cowboy boots and rock out to a live concert of AC-DC! Rock’n’roll baby!

Open Sundays through to Thursdays from 8:30 am to 1am and Fridays to Saturdays from 8:30am to 2am.

Jules sails on the Parisian sea !

When Jules was younger, he loved watching the adventures of Captain Cousteau on the television. The sea, the ships, the yellow raincoats, the fish nets, the sailors…and surprise! One day, whilst wandering around the Rue des Martyrs, he fished up a good sea-inspired place. Autour du Saumon, is an original Scandinavian-influenced restaurant with a delightful contemporary terrace and a modest yet refined setting.

As soon as he stepped across the threshold, Jules was mesmerised by the blend of taramas and kipper. To go with his braised salmon, he chose a Welsh fresh water and lingered on the wine card, undecided. For his dessert, he gave in to temptation and opted for a rhubarb compote created by the Chef; and he was not disappointed.

Ever since then, Jules is madly in love with the pink fish. Incidentally, he is going back there tomorrow!

The extra +: Autour du Saumon is also a delicatessen, so you can purchase and devour the best of what the sea has to offer in the comfort of your own home!

Open Tuesdays to Thursdays from 9:30 am to 8:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays unto 9pm, Mondays from 4:30pm to 8:30pm and Sundays from 10 am to 1:30pm.

Palace or Privilege : torn between the two

Le Palace, that name must ring a bell, right? Nothing surprising there, since it was a legendary club in the 70s and 80s, linked to pop music and the rise of the gay culture. Big names made appearances at this House of Cool, THE place to be: Lagarfeld, Warhol, Jagger, Mitterand, Ardisson…and now, Jules!

But since those days, the Palace has noticeably changed direction. Today, it is a theatre. Since Valérie Lemercier’s inaugural show in 2008, this theatre has welcomed numerous artists, comedians, humorists including Pierre Palmade, Liane Foly, Calogero, Florence Foresti, Stéphane Rousseau (to name a few!)

When Jules leaves the Palace, he is often famished and it is not unlike him to head straight to the Privilège, the Palace’s restaurant-club. The cuisine is original, honoring traditional French cuisine. Lamb Shanks, wasabi beef strips, but New York burger, chicken yakitori and fried gambas are also available!

The chic and design atmosphere of the Privilège is also worth the detour: refined, The room features a nice, yet show-off and jet set feel. A place to see and to be seen. In a nutshell, a place that is 100% Parisian.
