Jules is a Rock God!

Jules loves fashion; he loves it to such an extent that his sister winds him up by calling him a girl! He loves buying his clothes in little boutiques like The Kooples or Zadig et Voltaire. His style? Dandy chic and Rock.

Created by Thierry Gillier, the son of the co-founder of Lacoste, the Zadig et Voltaire brand has redefined the boundaries of luxury, by making it affordable and Rock & Roll! And now, Parisians have fallen for the chic cashmere sweaters at shockingly reasonable prices and touch of rock accessories (skulls, eagles, and names of rockers to name but a few). Men are being equally captivated by the brand, playing the role of the seductive Parisian in the 21st century.

Will you, like Jules, go crazy about Zadig et Voltaire? Head to Galeries Lafayette to find out!

Open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 8pm.
Thursday evenings open until 9pm.

Jules educates himself at the Galeries des Galeries !

One day, while gallivanting in the Galeries Lafayette, Jules stumbled upon the Galerie des Galeries : what a surprise ! Located on the first floor of Galeries Lafayette Haussmann and designed by architect Pascal Grasso, this area of Galeries aims to promote new and future talents.

At a rate of 5 exhibitions each year, la Galeries des Galeries allows the eclectic customers of the “grand magasin” to discover the French and international artistic scene. Fashion, art, design… the Galerie’s program aims to promote the different purposes between these artistic disciplines.

This summer, the Galeries des Galeries has given Agnès b. a free hand to produce an exhibition. The designer and art enthusiast has brought international acclaimed French artist, Claude Lévêque to take over the space. The latter has created “Hymne à la joie”, a unique installation made up of camp beds, beach umbrellas and fairy lights. A soundtrack accompanies this piece which was created in-situ for the Galerie des Galeries.

Jules has been to the show and was not disappointed! Contemporary but mostly conceptual, each individual can interpret “Hymne à la joie” in his own way: the underprivileged’s cry for help or an R&R area.

The Bordeauxthèque : sanctuary of the Bordeaux in Paris

Hidden away in the heart of the Lafayette Gourmet is a magical place for wine aficionados: the Bordeauxthèque. As its name implies, the Bordeauxthèque brings together up to 1 500 wine references exclusively from the Bordeaux region in its rotunda shaped home! Heaven on Earth for Jules, wine enthusiast and weekend enologist!

The complex is organised in a logical geographic way: the journey on the outskirts of the rotunda begins in Saint Estèphe, before heading to Pauillac, Saint Julien and Margaux. Then, a change of bank and we are in Pomerol, Saint-Emilio, Pessac Leognan before coming back to square one.

The insides of the rotunda are where the true treasures lie. In a chapel-shaped area, under soft lighting is where the biggest names can be found: Cheval-Blanc, Mouton Rothschild, Petrus, Haut-Brion…Jules trembles with pleasure while admiring a 1961 Margaux, gazes at 24 vintage Sauternes dating between 1899 and 2006 and is speechless before a 1945 Mouton worth 20 000€.

To conclude, the Bordeauxthèque is much more than just a cellar; it is a means to showcase all the Bordeaux related wines, securely kept away by a team of sommelier, each of which are as talkative as museum guides! Unknown quality wines and the cream of the crops of French wine, Jules is still searching for the ones that are missing from his collection…

Open Monday to Saturday from 09:30 am to 8pm, except Thursday until 9pm.

Jules has Paris at his feet at the Galeries’ Summer Terrace

Tempted to take a break, head in the clouds? Jules has an address just up his sleeve: the Summer Terrace at the Galeries Lafayette!

Located on the 8th and top floor of the department store, this fleeting spot is exceptional: panoramic views over the Parisian rooftops and monuments, the city of lights is at your feet! The décor is by Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manky, currently big shots of interior architecture, and portrays a sense of tranquillity and zen.

As for the food, the menu has been assigned to Fumiko Kono, former chef of the Arpège, and Pierre Hermé, king of macarons. The result: fresh and original creations as only to be expected of these two chefs. The flavours subtly blend the traditional French cuisine with a Japanese twist.

The plus : Fumiko Kono has concocted a mixture of sweet and salty delights to go in a basket or a bento! Whichever takes your fancy!

A timeless moment but Jules recommends you reserve because the Terrace only holds 60 place settings which are grabbed within minutes!

On the 8th floor of the main store. Open Mondays to Saturdays from 12pm until 6pm.

Ready to change hair style?

Salon de coiffure Jean-Marc Maniatis aux Galeries Lafayette Haussmann Wanting a new look? Leave Jules behind for a few hours and dash to the Jean-Marc Maniatis hair salon located on the 2nd floor of Galeries Lafayette Haussmann !

The wild mid-length haircut à la Rolling Stones is all down to him, the short square fringe, sported on Sophie Marceau in L’amour Braque, is also his creation! Jean-Marc Maniatis is considered as one of today’s most legendary hairdressers! His secret weapon? To cut hair when its dry.

Even if the master has put away his pair of scissors, every hairdresser in every salon is trained with the Maniatis technique: the cut is carried out on blow dried hair so that it falls naturally. Then each hair strand is meticulously worked on as if the hair dresser sculpted the hair with small scissors! The result: a natural cut which respects the nature of the hair, makes it stand alone and last longer!

The +: The Maniatis Hair Salon also offers manicures, herbal reflexology treatments… the perfect time for a pampering session of absolute beauty and well-being!
