Jules loves a bit of Japanese tapas!

If Jules was ever exiled, he’d head straight to Japan without a shadow of a doubt; to go to a country this refined, where the food is as delicious as it is… Jules gets butterflies just thinking about it! As a bit of a fan of raw fish dishes, he loves wandering the streets of Paris in search of a real Japanese dining experience, and, totally by chance, he found a super place in his cherished 9th arrondissement… on rue Richer.

At Kiku, after taking a table which, although not much to look at, is as cosy as can be, you’ll learn that the chef Kyoichi Kai, having worked in Tokyo, Sydney and London, decided to set up shop over in Paris. Here, he allows his Parisian patrons to taste some proper Japanese tapas, the minutely detailed, carefully crafted bite-size pieces of heaven. They are so good that Jules will happily help himself to two or three more than he should!

As for the side dishes, you’d be crazy not to try the salmon Sashimi with hot sesame seed oil, and obviously the restaurant also offers things like miso soup and other types of sushi. For dessert, its virtually impossible for our beloved Jules to resist the call of the green tea ice sorbet. It’s a real delicacy that he’d devour by the bucket load if he could!

A big + : Bluefin tuna has been banned from the Kiku. Why? Because it’s an endangered species which has no place on their menu.

35€ set menu: 2 starters and 2 main courses.
Open every day from 12pm to 12.30pm and from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Closed Sundays.

Jules has Paris at his feet at the Galeries’ Summer Terrace

Tempted to take a break, head in the clouds? Jules has an address just up his sleeve: the Summer Terrace at the Galeries Lafayette!

Located on the 8th and top floor of the department store, this fleeting spot is exceptional: panoramic views over the Parisian rooftops and monuments, the city of lights is at your feet! The décor is by Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manky, currently big shots of interior architecture, and portrays a sense of tranquillity and zen.

As for the food, the menu has been assigned to Fumiko Kono, former chef of the Arpège, and Pierre Hermé, king of macarons. The result: fresh and original creations as only to be expected of these two chefs. The flavours subtly blend the traditional French cuisine with a Japanese twist.

The plus : Fumiko Kono has concocted a mixture of sweet and salty delights to go in a basket or a bento! Whichever takes your fancy!

A timeless moment but Jules recommends you reserve because the Terrace only holds 60 place settings which are grabbed within minutes!

On the 8th floor of the main store. Open Mondays to Saturdays from 12pm until 6pm.
